Mark 10:17 (NIVUK)
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. ‘Good teacher,’ he asked, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’

On Sunday I introduced this passage as a counterpoint to the Parable of the Prodigal Son when looking at the theme of ‘temptation’. We’ll explore how that is as the week progresses, but for today a simple observation – whatever else we might say about this man (often called the ‘Rich Young Ruler’), he certainly scores well in response to where he goes to find wisdom regarding how to live. To seek insight and wisdom, he doesn’t turn to the latest fashion in outlook and culture, nor a self-help book, lifestyle guru or influencer, but Jesus.

What questions about life do you have at the moment, big or small? As the week begins, bring them to Jesus.
