Mark 10:17-18 (NIVUK)
19 You know the commandments: “You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honour your father and mother.”’
20 ‘Teacher,’ he declared, ‘all these I have kept since I was a boy.’

Temptation comes in many different guises. The ones that Jesus lists here are some of the big and obvious ones. These are all things that we should avoid. There’s something here that we didn’t explore on Sunday, these are all activities that hurt others or damage our relationship with them. Temptation is important as it is not simply about arbitrary actions, but about how our lives impact those of others. Temptation seeks to lure us into actions that damage friendships, colleagues, families and communities.

Spirit, help me today to live in such a way that I don’t damage my relationship with others.
