Mark 10:21 (NIVUK)
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. ‘One thing you lack,’ he said. ‘Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’

Temptation does not just seek to lure us into actions that hurt others, it also acts to lure us away from actions that help others. Temptation may say put action until another day, suggest we can take a day off, or that we don’t need to help someone because we’ve helped them enough in the past. Temptation may say it doesn’t matter if you don’t act on the Spirit’s prompt to say something or do something. As we thought yesterday, temptation is about faithful living, being faithful to God and others. It is much more than simply a list of things to avoid.

Spirit, help me to be faithful in my relationships, to build up and not destroy.
