Matthew 6:13*
…for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever. Amen.
Our world is filled with numerous cultures and worldviews. Some of these complement, others compete, but they are all in one way or another vying with each other. Whilst as Christians we celebrate God’s creativity in the world, his diverse creation, we also recognise everyone of these grows from not just humanity’s strengths, but also its weaknesses and failure. All worldviews and cultures express in some way our fallenness – including those of the church. There is one, however, that stands alone, God’s kingdom as ushered in by Christ. Whilst now we might just catch and achieve glimpses of it, one day he will return and it will transform all others, aligning us perfectly with God’s will and love.
Even now upon the earth
There’s a glimpse of all to come
Many people with one voice
Harmony of many tongues
We will all confess Your name
You will be our only praise
All the nations with one voice
All the people with one God
And what a song we’ll sing upon that day**
