1 Kings 19:9 NIV
[9] There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
I wonder how Elijah felt about this question! He had been through amazing circumstances and seen extraordinary miracles but this is a dark time for him and he has been frightened and unsure. But the Lord understands him and knows how to reach him. God has a job for him and will give the strength and guidance – his daily bread – that he needs.
Could it be that God sometimes asks us “What are you doing here……?”
Lord, let me be listening for you; let me be serving you in the people I meet today; let me choose your way today and may the Kingdom and the power, and the glory be yours always.
