A few years ago I bought a second Sony CD player for my HiFi set. It looked just the job, with loads of knobs and buttons! The only problem was, that although the use of some of them was obvious (like Play and Pause), a number of the buttons I had no idea what they were there for or how to use them. The internet came to my rescue, a quick search and I was able to download the manual. If only we could download a manual labelled ‘human being’… This is where the Bible is so important. Through it God gives us so much wisdom as to how to live well and in a way that pleases him and benefits others. Like any instruction manual, we might have to put some work in to put it into practice, and it won’t necessarily tell us everything we want to know about everything, but it is more than sufficient to get us up and running, with troubleshooting help when things go awry.
Spirit, help me to discern God’s wisdom in the Bible for the coming days.
