Romans 8:22-25 (NIVUK)
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
We are not the only ones to have a hope, Romans 8 tells us that God has a hope, a hope that he shares with us. He allows the struggles of the earth to continue in the hope, the plan, that this will allow us, through Christ, to be lifted up and made his children. Once we’ve been rescued and restored, he will then rescue and restore the world. It is a hope, because we have not seen it yet, but as God’s hope, even with the freedom he gives us and life’s chaos, it is certain.
Thank you Father that our relationship with you is part of a bigger story, your relationship with the world, and your plan to make all things new.
