Luke 18:1 NIV
[1] Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up…….

Acts 12:5 NIV
[5] So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.

This comes at a fearsome time for the church – John’s brother James, had been killed by Herod for knowing Jesus and Peter was going the same way. What could be done? Only God could help them and so the Church cries out to God. They might have said “God didn’t help John so why pray for Peter?” but they didn’t give up and the result was beyond their wildest expectations – Peter arrives (to his own amazement) at their door and  a servant called Rhoda comes to the door and listens to see who was knocking:
[14] When she recognised Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!” [15] “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.” (Acts 12:14-15 NIV)
Read the whole story and share their amazement – and imagine what it did for their faith and prayer life!!

Lord, let us share the encouragement of seeing you do wonderful things in our generation to your glory and praise.
