Luke 12:20 NIVUK
20 ‘But God said to him, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?”
In this twist we discover the other part of the folly of greed. Not only does it distract us from loving God and others, but it is ultimately futile. The popular saying goes, you can’t take it with you when you die. This is usually an excuse to make the most of it in the here and now. Perhaps the better path is to think about what you do take with you when you go, and focus on that.
‘…these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor. 13:13)‘
Spirit, help me invest in love.
