John 1:14 (NIVUK)
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
When John describes the Word becoming flesh and their seeing his glory, he deliberately echoes the phrase God uses to describe himself to Moses in this week’s passage from Exodus. Jesus comes full of grace and truth, God is abounding in love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6). John is making it clear from the start that Jesus is God and that this is who and what God is, and that it is through him that we best understand and come to know Him.
Spirit, help me to develop a more Christ-like faith and life.
