Hebrews 5:5-6 (NIVUK)
5 In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him,
‘You are my Son;
today I have become your Father.’
6 And he says in another place,
‘You are a priest for ever,
in the order of Melchizedek.’

Yesterday we saw how Jesus qualified to be a Priest and represent us through his incarnation and compassion. These quotes which Hebrews takes from Psalm 2:7, a coronation Psalm, and Psalm 110:4 show how he also qualified to be a priest not because it was something he demanded, but because God selected him, affirming his qualifications, character and identity, which made him ideal to be out Priest-King, speaking up for us and ruling over us with his grace and humility.

Jesus, your Father announced his acceptance of you as his Son and priest. As your people, we do the same, you are the one we adore and follow.
