Ephesians 5:8-10 (NIVUK)
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.
We have a small colony of cockroaches in a tank at home as food for the frogs and newts that our son keeps. Open the lid and they immediately scuttle undercover to hide in the dark. Darkness is often associated with secrets, misdemeanours and shame, somewhere where we go to hide them just like the cockroaches. Through Christ, however, God has dealt with these, enabling us to live in the light without fear. Let’s embrace this freedom and live God’s way.
Thank you, Father, that through Jesus we need not be ashamed before you.
