Ephesians 5:17-20
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So how do we seize every opportunity to live for God and to love those around us as yesterday’s verse encouraged us? These closing verses don’t tell us the detail of what we must do, instead they suggest attitudes and activities we can cultivate so that we are receptive to God and his guidance in each and every situation. The practice of continual gratitude and worship will lead us to be open to God’s prompting by his Spirit and ready to respond.
Father, I start today by worshipping you, with the intent to keep on doing so until I start afresh tomorrow!
