Hebrews 6:1-3 (NIVUK)
Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.

Foundations are critical, trust me. Coming from the Cambridgeshire Fens, I know of houses built in areas where the peat soil is still shrinking after being drained. Houses with inadequate foundations will very quickly start to tilt to one side! But a house is so much more than just the foundations; they are vital but hidden away, and rather than them, it is the rooms built on them that we enjoy and show off. It is the same with our faith. Make sure your foundations are secure, make sure you know about the Cross and its offer of forgiveness, and the joy of being welcomed into God’s family. Get baptised too, enjoy the certain hope of resurrection, but don’t stop there, instead get building upon these basics. Build a room based on going to work as a Christian, another for developing healthy relationships with friends and family, another for being an active part of the church, encouraging and building others up, another for responding to contemporary culture and so on.

Father help us in the strength of your Spirit to build the house of our lives based on the foundation of your Son.
