Bible Notes

Luke 24:2-6 (01.04.24)

Luke 24:2-6 (NIVUK)
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen!

The Celtic spirituality talks about ‘thin places’, places where heaven and earth meet. At this moment, the empty tomb is one of these. The curtain between realms is drawn back and the women see God’s angels, gleaming like lightening (symbolic for God’s presence and power?) God has been at work as well, Jesus has been raised and is no longer here.

The stone was rolled away and God was made visible. Lord, in your mercy, roll the stone away today so that we too can see you and know your work in our lives.
