Hebrews 8:13
13 By calling this covenant ‘new’, he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

We were early adopters of an electric car. When we bought ours, there was an element of calculated gamble as there were many different types of socket for plugging your car into chargers. All of them worked, but it was unrealistic for all of them to survive; they all worked, but inevitably one or two would come to dominate the market and the others vanish. Thankfully, the plug on our car was one of the survivors, at least to this point in time. The author of Hebrews is making a similar point here. The old covenant will vanish, not because it wasn’t good, but because the new is better, indeed, the best. There are lots of good things in the world, but nothing that can compete with the relationship we can have with God through Christ. They will fade, but that will endure.

Thank you for our wonderful relationship with you through Jesus. The best.
