Psalm 139:7-10 (21.05.24)

Psalm 139:7-10 (NIVUK)
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

The Bible records this as a psalm of David. Scholars debate if this means David wrote it, or if it is inspired by David’s story, but either way, these verses capture David’s experience that God was always with him, no matter where he was, or whether he was experiencing the highs or lows of life. If that was true of David, how much more it can be true of us who have been given the Spirit to dwell in us – through this, God demonstrates most intimately that he is with and for us at all times; including when we’re travelling for work, ordering on Amazon, playing with the grandchildren, dealing with complex patient needs, or having a refreshing drink on a sunny day!

Thank you Father that by your Spirit you’ve chosen to live out this life with me.
