So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, [7] rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
A few years ago as a church we grew sunflower seeds. I thought I was doing really well. My seed grew fast and tall. It was a little bit spindly though… Eventually it folded over and died. Turns out that it was potted or rooted into too small a pot. It needed to be planted into soil that would sustain it. We also need to root ourselves into something, or someone, who will sustain us – Jesus!
Father, help me by your Spirit to develop a daily pattern in which I feed and grow from your Son.
