1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (05.09.19)

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. [5] It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. [6] Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. [7] It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

John tells us that ‘God is love’ (1 John 4:8,16). If you wanted to describe God then, you could swap ‘love’ in the above passage for ‘God’ so it becomes, ‘God is patient, God is kind. He does not envy, he does not boast…’ This becomes a wonderful description of his character. Take a while to reflect on how you have experienced these aspects of him in your life.

Of course, we are made in his image. This means we could swap ‘love’ for either our own name or ‘Wormley Free Church’. Try each and reflect on what that says to you. How can we become more patient, more kind etc.

Father, thank you for your love. Help us to become more loving.
