[19] Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
Looking at the picture you can begin to guess the shape of the building it will support – a foundation is laid specifically to match the building that is to be built with it. So it is with us, God’s foundation is just right for us, it is tailor made, just what we need, because he knows us and what is best for us. That’s a great thought! A building has to work with the foundation though otherwise it won’t be supported properly – if a beam starts to bow or a column twist its own way, then the building is weakened. Again, so it is with us. As we are built on the foundation of Jesus to be strong we need to rely on him and work together, leaving behind our selfish and independent ways.
