Bible Notes

Isaiah 11:2 (15.12.20)

Isaiah 11:2
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him –
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord –

From the moment of birth to the moment of death this coming Messiah would be the fullness of the Godhead.  Jesus was to have the Spirit of God resting on him. He would be completely God, yet too, fully human. Here we have the character of the Son and the mystery of the Godhead prefigured. Forever in the will and presence of the Father, Jesus also possessed within him the person, power, and character of the Spirit. This Messiah, fully God and fully human, born in a stable in the person of Jesus is Lord and Saviour of all.

Father, we are always curious to know what a new-born baby might be like so we praise you and give you thanks for the way you point us toward the glory of God and the true nature of the baby born in a stable at Christmas.
