Bible Notes

Isaiah 55:6-8 (22.01.21)

Isaiah 55:6-8
6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

I hope that as a result of this pandemic we’ve relearnt that experts are worth listening to. We all have our limitations of knowledge and ability, and through listening to the insights of experts who know more than us in important areas, our lives can be improved and even saved. If it’s worth listening to human experts, how much more so is it worth listening to God, the expert supreme, who knows us better than we know ourselves, who made us and the world we live in, and perceives us without prejudice, other than the prejudice of love.

Lord, your wisdom is beyond compare, you are wisdom itself!
Jesus, you are the Word become flesh.
Spirit, God’s insight within us
Forgive my deafness and help me to listen
