Today we continue to pray for God’s vision and guidance as we move out of lockdown. What does he want the church to look going forward?
1 Samuel 14.23
So on that day the Lord saved Israel, and the battle moved on beyond Beth Aven.
This statement at the end of this episode recalls a similar statement in Exodus 14.30: “That day the LORD saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians.” How many times during Old Testament history did God do that! But each victory won is not the end of the war – “the battle moved on …” That continues in our own experience too: a victory today will be followed by another battle tomorrow, as God leads us on. That’s how he will be glorified in our lives.
Lord, as we pray for your leading and wisdom, for your strength and power, for your presence and assurance, enable us to let you win the battles in our lives day by day, so that we can say, like the apostle Paul, But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to know your leading and your victory.
