Bible Notes

Genesis 12:4-5 (14.09.22)

Genesis 12:4-5
4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

On one level Abrams response was simple, God called him to go and so he went. On another level it was complicated, how he lived impacted not just himself but everything and everyone connected to him: his family, his friends, his work, his possessions and much more. This left him with big decisions. What was he going to take with him? What was he going to leave behind? How was he going to communicate what he was doing?Did he get it right? Time will tell, and without doubt the future actions of his family would impact events to come.

Father, living the life of faith can get complicated sometimes. Help us to be wise, to have the faith to do the best with what we have and know, and trust in you for the rest.
