Luke 12:6-7 (11.10.22)

Luke 12:6-7 (NIVUK)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. […] you are worth more than many sparrows.

I love sparrows, we have many that live in our garden, and although they are in some ways the plainest and most common of birds, they are full of life and character. It is the same with God and us. We may see ourselves as like sparrows, plain and common, uninteresting, or we might feel that others do, but rest assured, God does not see us like that. He knows us intimately and completely. To him we are not worthless or common, but valuable and to be treasured.

Teach us to see ourselves and others as you do Lord. Help us to love our neighbours and ourselves.
