Psalm 85:4-7 (NIVUK)
4 Restore us again, God our Saviour,
and put away your displeasure towards us.
5 Will you be angry with us for ever?
Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
That first Christ Jesus came bringing joy as a light in the darkness. One day he will return again and restore our joy when he brings his Father’s Kingdom in all its wonder. Advent is a time of longing. It reminds us that whilst we might know despair now, we don’t have to wait until Christ’s physical return for his help, we can call for his help now.
Jesus, we long for your help, revive us and bring us your joy today.
