Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

2 Corinthians 3:18 (07.02.23)

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIVUK)
18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

There have been some hilariously bad examples in recent years of art restoration by ‘experts’ who don’t know what they’re doing. Yesterday we thought about how God’s image in us has become obscured, spoilt by humanity’s brokenness and our self-centredness. Paul seems to be suggesting here that this can be successfully restored by a combination of our contemplating the Lord’s glory (sounds like a combination of reflecting on and engaging with what Christ has done, meditating on the Bible, prayer and worship to me) and the work of the Spirit.

Spirit, help us as we seek to become more like Jesus.
