Bible Notes

Isaiah 25:7-9 (13.06.23)

Isaiah 25:7-9(NIVUK)
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
8     he will swallow up death for ever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.
9 In that day they will say,
‘Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.’

The sovereignty and authority of God could seem overwhelming or frightening – who are we next to a God that has all power and all knowledge, and has the right to demand what he wishes from us. Thankfully, God exercises his authority with compassion and love. His objective is making the world right and restoring us to a good relationship with it, each other, and with him, rather than exacting revenge for our failings or demeaning service from us because he can.

Thank you Father that we can trust you. We rejoice in the love you show us!
