Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Exodus 34:6-7 (03.01.24)

Exodus 34:6-7 (NIVUK)
6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, ‘The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.

Going back to the story of God revealing his glory from behind to Moses, what is revealed about God’s glory? His gracious compassion and his faithfulness to his people, including forgiving them when they stray. This is the heart of how he ‘sees’ or describes himself, the heart of God. As we start this New Year, this is who and what our faith and lives are based on, God’s compassion and faithfulness. We can trust him because he is loving and true.

How have you experienced God’s compassion and faithfulness over the last year? What does this mean about how you see the year ahead?
