Hebrews 3:15 (NIVUK)
15 As has just been said:
‘Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.’
This passage is talking about something bigger than simply falling to the occasional small temptation from time, here and later in Hebrews the writer is referring to a deeper more ingrained turning away or falling away from God. Within this warning, there is an encouragement for us too – God is a living and active God, at work in this world to bring about his salvation. He is not a silent God but a God who communicates with his people. I wonder what he might have to say to us today? Let’s commit to listening out for him over the coming days, and sharing on Sunday what we have heard, especially stories of what God has done when we have been faithful in responding.
Father, in your love, give us the grace to hear and respond when you speak to us today.
