2 Chronicles 6:40-7:1
40 ‘Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
41 ‘Now arise, Lord God, and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests, Lord God, be clothed with salvation,
may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.
42 Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.
Remember the great love promised to David your servant.’
7:1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
This may be looking ahead somewhat, but I couldn’t finish a week’s Bible notes about building projects without it. These verses come from the dedication of the Temple after Solomon’s workers had completed it. Whatever proposal we pursue, we will surely want to end it with thanksgiving, asking God to come and fill it and be found in it and through it’s use, so that he may be made known and glorified.
Father, we can’t wait to invite you into our new building, whatever we decide to do, but for now we invite you into our lives as your ‘living temple’ (see 1 Peter 2:4-5). Be found and be made known in us for your glory!
